「椿の道アカデミー」は、島根県立大学松江キャンパス公開講座の愛称です。

　松江キャンパスの公開講座は、1992（平成4）年に「短大火曜講座」としてスタートしました。その時の講座は、「しまね学事始」（担当講師：藤岡大拙・大塚茂）、「異文化の理解をめざして」（担当講師：瀬古康雄・鹿野一厚）、「”読み聞かせ”とは何か」（担当講師：堀川照代）で、当時の一般教育研究室教員による社会貢献活動でした。

　翌年の1993（平成5）年には「源氏物語入門」（担当講師：三保サト子）ほか、文学科（当時）の教員による複数の講座が加わり、「椿の道アカデミー」として本格的に公開講座がスタートしました。

　2011（平成23）年度からは、「椿の道アカデミー」会員制度が導入され、会員は年度初めに会員登録（登録料2,000円）を行うことで、松江キャンパス社会人利用者として、松江キャンパス公開講座の受講、松江キャンパス図書館とおはなしレストランライブラリーの利用、その他会員向けの生涯学習事業への参加の権利を取得することができるようになりました。

　2012（平成24）年度の公開講座では、健康栄養学科・保育学科・総合文化学科の3学科の教員が講師として参加し、さらに学外講師の協力も得て、13講座、計86回が開講されました。内容も教養的なもの、趣味の世界を楽しむもの、資格支援の実践的な講座、中学生・高校生を対象としたものなど多彩となり、開講日時も平日日中だけではなく、土曜日・日曜日・平日夜にも開催されています。1年間でのべ3376名の方にご参加いただきました。

　「出雲神話翻訳研究会」は2011（平成23）年度から新たに「椿の道アカデミー」に加わった講座で、両年度とも7回ずつ実施されました。2011年度にはのべ339名（登録者85名）が、2012年度には255名（登録者74名）の方に受講していただきました。2013（平成25）年度も継続して開講する予定ですので、ぜひ、多くの皆様にご参加いただきたいと願っています。

 The Camellia Path academy is the name we affectionately give to the University of Shimane Junior College’s public lecture program.  The public lectures at Matsue Campus began as the “Junior College Tuesday Lectures” in 1992.  At that time, the lectures were a community service provided by the professors of this college and titles included, “The Beginnings of Educational Affairs in Shimane” (by Professors Fujioka and Ootsuka), “Attempting to Understand Foreign Cultures” (by Professors Seko and Shikano) and “What is ‘Yomikikase?’ (a method of reading aloud from storybooks)” (by professor Horikawa).

 In the following year, 1993, in addition to the lecture, “An introduction to the Tales of Genji” (by Professor Miho), many other lectures were added by Cultural Studies Department Professors and a full-fledged public lecture program was begun under the name of “The Camellia Path Academy”. 

 From 2011, a membership system was created for “The Camellia Path Academy” in which members register at the beginning of the academic year (registration fee 2,000 yen) and as community members of Matsue Campus, they have access to the public lectures, the main library, the Ohanashi Restaurant Library (a picture book library), and lifelong learning projects designed for the members. 

 The public lectures for 2012 include lectures by professors from all three departments on campus, the Department of Health and Nutrition, Early Childhood Education, the Department of Multidisciplinary Cultural Studies, as well as collaboration from lecturers off campus to provide 13 lecture series, totaling 86 lectures.  A variety of lecture topics, such as cultural topics, enjoying hobbies, practical lectures supporting training for qualifications, and lectures geared for middle and high school aged students.  The lectures are offered not only during weekday afternoons, but also evenings and weekends as well.  Last year we had a total of 3,376 participants attend. 

 The Study Group for Izumo Myth Translation presented seven public lectures with the Camelia Path Academy in 2011 and we presented another seven lectures in 2012.  We had an attendance of 339 people (85 registered members) in 2011 and there were 225 people (74 registered members) who attended the following year.   The lectures will continue in 2013 and we are hoping that many can attend.
