英訳 出雲神話

Replying to their proposals, Yagami-hime said to the eighty deities, “I will not accept your proposals, but I will marry O-namuji-no-kami.” The eighty deities got angry at O-namuji-no-kami because of her reply, and plotted together to kill O-namuji-no-kami. When they reached the foot of Mt. Tema in the province of Hahaki, they said to O-namuji-no-kami, “A red boar lives in this mountain. We will drive it down the hill, so wait here and catch it. If you fail to catch it, we will kill you.”

The eighty deities put a stone, the size and shape of a boar, in the fire, and made it look like a red boar, then rolled it down the hill. At the bottom of the hill, O-namuji-no-kami caught the red hot stone and burnt to death.

Crying and grieving over the death of her son, O-namuji-no-kami’s mother ascended to heaven. She pleaded for bringing her dead son back to life to Kami-musuhi-no-mikoto, who sent Kisa-gai-hime and Umu-gi-hime to give medical treatment and revive O-namuji-no-kami. Kisa-gai-hime scraped herself and gathered the power of the shell, while Umu-gi-hime took it and mixed it with some milk from herself. She put the mixture on O-namuji-no-kami, then he was reborn as a more handsome man than before, and he began to walk around.
